FINAL ROUND OF ENGLISH ELOQUENCE CONTEST “SPEAK YOUR MIND 2014” – GREAT SURPRISE UNTIL LAST MINUTES

Speak Your Mind which is highly appreciated in academic nature, has become an annual activity of the English Language Faculty. In the opening speech, Dr.Ngu Thien Hung – Dean of English Language Faculty, Head of the Competition Organizing Board, said: “After a year of interrupting to temporarily cede to a bigger playing field ‘English to succeed’ for all students of three faculties: Faculty of English Language, Faculty of English for Special Purpose and Faculty of International Studies. “Speak Your mind” this year is held for all the students of the Faculty of English Language. Wish the contestants attended the final round tonight luck and good results achievement, and hope to see you all at the English Eloquence Competition 2015”.

 

Dr. Tran Huu Phuc delivered speech

 

Dr. Tran Huu Phuc – Rector of Danang University of Foreign Languages Studies said: “I highly appreciate this playing field. This contest has great practical significance for students of English, a very useful playground for students to prove themselves, improve their knowledge and skills of speaking, eloquence and confidence to make presentation to the crowd. This contributes to light students’ love and passion for English.”

 

 

 

 

10 excellent candidates in final round of English Eloquence Contest “Speak Your Mind 2014”

 

The preliminary and semi-final rounds were held on 12/10/2014 and 19/10/2014 in turn with the participation of all students of English Language Faculty. Over two rounds, the Organizing Board selected 10 best candidates for the final round of English Eloquence Contest “Speak Your Mind 2014”.

 

Candidatesshowed their capability of situation handling with quick reflexes, professional reaction through direct question from the Jury.

 

Thecontestants in the final round had to pass 3 parts. In part one, five pairs introduced within 4 minutes about themselves and living point of view in any form (speaking, singing, video, ppt), the candidates must satisfy criteria: Pronunciation, Grammar, Vocabulary, Fluency, Teamwork, Creativity. In part two, the pairs of candidates continued to criticize the situation and finally made the presentation according to drawn topics.Additionally, candidates demonstrated the capability of situation handling, quick reflexes, and professional reaction through direct questions from the jury. Candidates experienced moments of real tension of wits, persuasive eloquence. With the ability of English fluency, natural voice and standardpronunciation along with the thorough and meticulous preparation in the content, the candidates made a confident and dynamic style that brought surprised things to the Jury.

 

 

Performance of students of English Language Department

 

Dr. Ngu Thien Hung and Dr. Le Thi Giao Chi awarded the First Prize to Tran Thi Thu Huong and Second Prize to Vo Le Dinh Van.

 

Dr. Le Thi Thu Huyen and expert Marie Kubo awarded the Third Prize to Phan Sy Cuong and Le Huu Bao Nguyen.

 

MA. Nguyen Duong Nguyen Trinh awarded the Encouragement Prize to contestants.

 

MA. Ho Quang Ha and MA. Nguyen Cung Tram awarded Certificates to constants in semi-final round.
